All commercial building inspection methods in Austin, Texas fall short when compared to infrared inspections performed by Building Diagnostics Group. Our noninvasive service is the most cost-effective way to detect building envelope problems, moisture infiltration, and energy issues that are not visible to the naked eye.
Building Diagnostics Group (BDG), headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a multifaceted consulting firm that specializes in the detection, investigation, and resolution of water intrusions on multi-family, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings throughout the nation.
Our expertise in infrared building science and water testing procedures enables us to identify the cause and origin of most building failures.
Robert Scherer, President of BDG, is an ITC Certified Level III Thermographer with over 15 years of thermography experience who is certified in Advanced Building Diagnostics. He is also a Certified Indoor Environmentalist and Certified Mold Inspector.
BDG’s highly skilled team of professionals includes FAA Authorized Commercial sUAS Remote Pilots, Certified Level III Thermographers, Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH), and other engineering/architectural specialists who provide the most comprehensive non-destructive building investigations available today.
What is Infrared Thermography?
Infrared thermography (IR) is the science of infrared imaging. Infrared radiation is emitted by all objects, and the amount of radiation increases with temperature. Thermographic cameras detect this radiation in a similar way as an ordinary camera detects visible light. The radiation is converted into visible high-resolution images that make it possible to “see” variations in temperature with or without visible illumination.
Benefits of Infrared Inspections
- Fast, reliable, accurate detection of energy loss, moisture and electrical issues
- Advance warning of a potential problems and system failures
- Non-invasive and non-destructive
- More accurate inspection results
- Minimal interference with building occupants
- No facility shutdown required
- Helps prevent unscheduled downtime
- Ideal for predictive maintenance of electrical, mechanical and structural systems
- Cost savings
With BDG’s proven inspection techniques and high-resolution infrared thermography, we can quickly identify costly hidden damage behind most facades. This provides the owner or buyer with an accurate understanding of the building’s structural integrity in order to make informed decisions.
Our services include:
- Commercial roof surveys
- Exterior building inspections
- Interior building inspections
- EIFS inspections
- Cell Fill (CMU) evaluations
- Energy audits
- Electrical inspections
Aerial Infrared Inspections
BDG also has an inventory of four commercial FLIR-equipped DJI Inspire and Matrice drones mounted with high-resolution infrared camera systems that can detect building defects beyond the visible inspection, identifying potential problems that could cost thousands of dollars to repair.
We are FAA-authorized to perform nighttime aerial operations with an approved Daylight Operation Waiver under 14 CFR § 107.29. The waiver allows us to perform aerial infrared roof inspections throughout the United States.
