Take advantage of commercial infrared inspection services from Building Diagnostics Group to assess the structural integrity of a building during due diligence of your property acquisitions.
Founded in 2002, Building Diagnostics Group (BDG) is an industry leader in the non-destructive detection, investigation, and resolution of water intrusions. Robert Scherer, President, is certified in Advanced Building Diagnostics and is an ITC Certified Level III Thermographer with more than 15 years of thermography experience in a wide range of applications.
The highly trained BDG team conducts the most comprehensive non-destructive building investigations available today with high-resolution FLIR SYSTEMS thermographic equipment (the highest quality infrared equipment in the industry), and several camera systems designed for different uses.
We are also FAA-authorized to perform nighttime aerial operations with an approved Daylight Operation Waiver under 14 CFR § 107.29. This waiver permits us to perform aerial infrared roof inspections throughout the United States.
Our noninvasive inspection services are the most cost-effective way to detect building envelope problems, moisture infiltration, and energy issues that are not visible to the naked eye.
Upon completion of each inspection, BDG delivers a comprehensive narrative report of our findings with deficiencies identified, photos of the deficiencies to provide visual evidence of the building’s condition that can be viewed in digital or hard-copy format, as well as recommendations for replacement and repair.
About Our Services
Commercial roof surveys – Infrared roof inspections are a non-contact and non-destructive testing method to determine active roof leaks. BDG’s inspections are fast and affordable and provide a clear picture of damaged areas. Our team can evaluate up to 300,000 SF of roof area in a single visit via our walk-over method, or evaluate millions of square feet by utilizing our aerial sUAS service.
Exterior building inspections –Our exterior building surveys are extremely fast and cost-effective at identifying potential hidden defects in many different cladding systems. BDG can typically evaluate 10 to 15 low-rise apartment buildings in just a few days on site.
Interior building inspections – With our extensive knowledge and use of high-resolution infrared cameras, we can quickly pinpoint the exact location of water intrusions without disassembling the premises or disturbing the occupants.
Energy audits – BDG performs energy audits that will identify heat loss and improper/inadequate insulation installation in residential and commercial structures. Many residential and commercial builders are now using thermography to achieve HERS ratings on new homes and buildings.
Drone solar panel inspections – Aerial thermography for solar panel field evaluations does not require a shutdown. Temporary “shadowing” from debris or other contaminants are easily detected and documented for required repairs. The service is extremely cost-effective because it eliminates the cost of helicopter rental, pilot payment, fuel bills, etc.
Aerial tower and structure inspections – Drones can see virtually every angle of a structure and are a safe, efficient and cost-effective method of evaluating visible deficiencies, hardware failures, and general overall tower conditions. BDG’s infrared thermal imaging services can help maintain, build, or modify cell towers, water tower structures, and other elevated structures.
