As you evaluate companies with the expertise to conduct an infrared roof inspection for your commercial building in Macon, Georgia, consider Building Diagnostics Group for thorough, accurate and affordable inspections.
Building Diagnostics Group (BDG) is a multifaceted consulting firm, founded in 2002, that specializes in infrared building science, aerial thermography, and water testing procedures that enable us to identify the cause and origin of most roof and building failures.
Our skilled team of professionals exclusively uses infrared camera equipment from FLIR, the world’s leader in infrared technology. This high-resolution specialty thermography equipment has made us one of the nation’s leaders in building science thermography.
Our state-of-the-art tools include the Tramex Dec Scanner™ which detects as little as 3% moisture content in most roof systems and moisture up to 3 inches below the roof surface.
BDG is also authorized by the FAA to perform nighttime aerial operations with an approved Daylight Operation Waiver under 14 CFR § 107.29, which allows us to perform aerial infrared roof inspections throughout the United States.
About Infrared Thermography (IR)
Infrared thermography (IR) is the use of specialized equipment to measure the thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal energy is light that is not visible because its wavelength is too long to be detected by the human eye.
Infrared roof inspections work on the principle that different materials in the roof have different thermal masses. In the daytime, the sun heats the roof structure. When the sun sets, the roof begins to cool. If there is a leak in the roofing membrane, the insulation inside the roof will become wet.
The wet insulation has a higher thermal mass than the rest of the dry roof structure. This difference means that the “wet” areas will maintain heat energy longer than other areas, providing the infrared thermographer with a clear picture of damaged areas.
BDG Inspection Specialties
Infrared thermography is the only diagnostic tool that instantly detects whether water has penetrated a roof system or building envelope. It is a powerful investigative tool in applications such as:
Commercial roof surveys –Roof inspections by BDG are fast and affordable and will pinpoint problem areas in need of repair to help you avoid expensive roof replacements. Our team can evaluate up to 300,000 SF in a single visit via our walk-over method, or millions of square feet with our aerial drone service.
Exterior building inspections – We can thoroughly evaluate a building’s exterior wall system for water intrusions that may have damaged the exterior sheathing and/or structural components and effectively identify potential hidden defects.
Interior building inspections – With our extensive knowledge and use of high-resolution infrared cameras, we can quickly pinpoint the exact location of water intrusions with little or no physical disassembly of the premises and with minimal disturbance to occupants.
Construction site monitoring – Building and construction site aerial drone inspections can be a simple, one-time aerial image or multiple images over a specific period. Aerial site data is collected at predetermined intervals or during specific project milestones. The data capture requires no direct interaction with the site and allows work to continue undisturbed.
Infrared roof inspection services from Building Diagnostics Group provide an invaluable component to your building diagnostics and preventative maintenance program. Get in touch with us at (888) 317-4568 to learn more about our services.
