Aerial building inspections from Building Diagnostics Group with our FLIR-equipped commercial drones provide you with a safer, faster and more cost-effective way of assessing potential moisture infiltration, thermal anomalies and energy deficiencies in your roof and other building systems.
Building Diagnostics Group (BDG) is a multifaceted consulting firm that specializes in the non-destructive detection, investigation, and resolution of water intrusions on multi-family, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings throughout the nation.
We can assist in many applications, including building inspections, roofing inspections and building moisture investigations. Our wide range of services include:
- Aerial infrared roof inspections to detect and document areas of moisture for further investigation and proper repair recommendations.
- Aerial infrared solar panel inspections to validate new installations and aging infrastructures and identify defective or damaged panels to help maintain maximum operational output, long service life, and high returns on investment.
- Aerial infrared tower and structure inspections and high-resolution digital photography to help maintain, build, or modify water towers, telephone masts, and other elevated structures.
- Aerial construction site monitoring to collect site data at predetermined intervals or during specific project milestones for analysis by construction managers and owners using a variety of tools, such as photorealistic 3D models, surface and volume measurements, BIM comparisons and timeline data.
About Our Equipment
Thermal cameras – BDG uses only high-resolution thermography equipment from FLIR SYSTEMS, the global leader in thermal imaging infrared technology.
Our highly trained team of professionals works with several different camera systems, each for a specific use and calibrated for specific targets, including the reliable, rapidly deployable Zenmuse XT 640×512 resolution radiometric infrared camera. The camera is ideal for applications such as roof inspections, power line inspections, cell tower inspections, precision agriculture, firefighting, search and rescue, and more.
Commercial drones — Also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS), drones make it possible to efficiently inspect roofs, building enclosures, and other elevated structures under construction or in need of repair, all from the comfort and safety of the ground. The aerial data gathered is used for effective quality control, asset management, investigations, and project documentation.
BDG’s inventory includes four commercial FLIR-equipped DJI Inspire and Matrice drones that can detect building defects that are not visible to the naked eye, identifying potential problems that could cost thousands of dollars to repair.
Our FLIR-equipped drones are capable of producing high-resolution images and video and capturing application-specific data in detail that was never before possible and are capable of detecting temperatures of less than ½ degree F, enabling us to detect even the slightest anomalies.
BDG is also FAA-authorized to perform nighttime aerial operations with an approved Daylight Operation Waiver under 14 CFR § 107.29. The waiver allows us to perform aerial infrared roof inspections throughout the United States.
