Building Diagnostics Group, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, provides the most comprehensive non-destructive aerial FLIR building inspections available today for multi-family, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.
Building Diagnostics Group (BDG) is a multifaceted consulting firm that specializes in the non-destructive detection, investigation, and resolution of water intrusions on multi-family, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings throughout the nation. Our expertise in infrared building science and water testing procedures enables us to identify the cause and origin of most building failures.
We are FAA-authorized commercial sUAS remote pilots with a current inventory of four drones specially equipped with high-resolution infrared camera systems. We are also FAA-authorized to perform nighttime aerial operations with an approved Daylight Operation Waiver under 14 CFR § 107.29, allowing us to perform aerial infrared roof inspections throughout the United States.
About Infrared Thermography (IR)
Infrared thermography (IR) is the use of specialized equipment to measure the thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal energy is light that is not visible because its wavelength is too long to be detected by the human eye. Infrared thermography is the only diagnostic tool that instantly detects whether water has penetrated a building envelope.
Infrared (IR) cameras, also called thermographic scanners and thermal imaging devices, measure the intensity of thermal energy being emitted by the object they are aimed at. They produce images of raw data, and proper interpretation requires training and years of experience.
BDG provides the highest quality infrared and digital imagery in the industry. We use only high-resolution FLIR SYSTEMS thermography equipment and utilize several different camera systems, including a Zenmuse XT 640×512 resolution radiometric infrared camera, each for a specific use and calibrated for specific targets.
BDG offers services in several different roles. We often work with engineering firms during the due diligence process of an acquisition. We are typically the first to inspect the exterior of a property, providing insight about the overall condition and the need, if any, for additional services to complete the due diligence evaluation.
Many commercial and multi-family properties contract us to perform annual inspections to proactively protect their investments. We are also used in conjunction with litigation and insurance claims to either provide details as to the extent of the claim or provide bid specification for remedial actions.
