Infrared Inspections in Memphis, TN
Infrared Inspections in Memphis, TN

Infrared inspections conducted by Building Diagnostics Group can uncover the sources, not just the symptoms, of water intrusion in your Memphis, TN commercial or multi-family property.

Building Diagnostics Group (BDG), headquartered in Atlanta, specializes in the non-destructive detection, investigation, and resolution of water intrusions on multi-family, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings from coast to coast.

President Robert Scherer has 25+ years of residential and commercial construction experience and is a pioneer in the field of moisture intrusion and building defect investigations with infrared thermography. He is an ITC Certified Level III Thermographer with over 15 years of thermography experience, a Certified Indoor Environmentalist, a Certified Mold Inspector, and is certified in Advanced Building Diagnostics.

We offer services in a variety of different roles, often working with engineering firms during the due diligence process of an acquisition. We are typically the first to inspect the exterior of a property, providing insight about the overall condition and the need, if any, for additional services to complete a due diligence evaluation.

What is Infrared Thermography?

Infrared thermography (IR) is the science of infrared imaging. Infrared radiation is emitted by all objects, and the amount of radiation increases with temperature. Thermographic cameras detect this radiation in a similar way as an ordinary camera detects visible light. The radiation is converted into visible high-resolution images that make it possible to “see” variations in temperature with or without visible illumination.

BDG’s services include exterior building inspections, interior building inspections, commercial roof surveys, cell fill (CMU) evaluations, EIFS inspections, electrical inspections, energy audits, and more.

Our team provides the highest-quality infrared and digital imagery in the industry, using only high-resolution FLIR SYSTEMS thermography equipment and several different camera systems, including a Zenmuse XT 640×512 resolution radiometric infrared camera, each for a specific use and calibrated for specific targets.

We also specialize in aerial inspection services, such as solar panel field evaluations, aerial tower and structure inspections, construction site monitoring and aerial drone photography services.

BDG is authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to perform nighttime aerial operations with an approved Daylight Operation Waiver under 14 CFR § 107.29. The waiver allows us to perform aerial infrared roof inspections throughout the United States.

Our inventory of four commercial FLIR-equipped DJI Inspire and Matrice drones are mounted with high-resolution infrared camera systems that can detect building defects beyond the visible inspection and identify potential problems that could cost thousands of dollars in repairs.
