Infrared Building Inspections
Infrared Building Inspections

Building Diagnostics Group, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is an industry leader in infrared building inspections throughout the nation. Our expertise in infrared building science and water testing procedures enables us to identify the cause and origin of most building failures.

Building Diagnostics Group (BDG) is a multifaceted consulting firm that specializes in the non-destructive detection, investigation, and resolution of water intrusions on multi-family, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.

We offer services in a variety of different roles, often working with engineering firms during the due diligence process of an acquisition. We are typically the first to inspect the exterior of a property, providing insight about the overall condition and the need, if any, for additional services to complete the due diligence evaluation.

With several high-resolution infrared cameras, each designed for a specific use, and a highly trained team that includes Certified Level III Thermographers, Certified Indoor Environmentalists, Certified Mold Inspectors, Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH), FAA Authorized Commercial Drone Remote Pilots, and other engineering/architectural specialists, BDG provides the most comprehensive non-destructive building investigations available today.

Exterior Building Inspections

Infrared imaging allows us to thoroughly evaluate a building’s exterior wall system for water intrusions that may have damaged the exterior sheathing and/or structural components and effectively identify potential hidden defects. We can map areas of moisture entrapment and delimitation due to environmental stress for many different cladding systems.

Interior Building Inspections

Infrared thermography is by far the best method for the documentation of a water loss or water intrusion event. With our extensive knowledge and use of high resolution infrared cameras, we can quickly pinpoint the exact location of water intrusions with little or no physical disassembly of the premises and with minimal disturbance to the occupants.

Cell Fill (CMU) Evaluations

Concrete Masonry Walls (CMU), commonly referred to as concrete block walls, are not structurally sound without proper rebar and grouting. Infrared technology is the most effective tool for surveying a masonry wall to detect deficiencies in the structural components.

EIFS Inspections

Moisture retention and leaks behind walls, over ceilings, and under floors is often impossible to detect until the problem is serious enough to become visible to the naked eye. BDG’s water infiltration analysis, pre-purchase and construction services provide moisture analysis of any structure with exterior insulating finish systems (EIFS) or stucco cladding to find excessive moisture content in the structural cavities and framing.

Commercial Roof Inspections

Infrared roof inspections are a non-contact and non-destructive testing method of finding active roof leaks before they become a massive problem. BDG’s inspections are fast, affordable, and can see the unseen and pin point anomalies beneath the roofing substrate.

Our team can evaluate up to 300,000 SF of roof area in a single visit via our walk-over method, or millions of square feet with our aerial drone service. We are FAA-authorized to perform nighttime aerial operations with an approved Daylight Operation Waiver under 14 CFR § 107.29, which allows us to perform aerial infrared roof inspections throughout the United States.
