About Our Equipment
Commercial drones — also called unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) – make it possible to efficiently inspect roofs, building enclosures, and other elevated structures under construction or in need of repair, all from the comfort and safety of the ground. The aerial data gathered is used for effective quality control, asset management, investigations, and project documentation.
Utilizing drones for aerial imaging enables BDG to thoroughly inspect building facades, roofs, solar panels, cell phone towers, water towers, wind turbines, power lines, and many other objects while maintaining a safe distance from the target.
Our inventory includes four commercial FLIR-equipped DJI Inspire and Matrice drones mounted with high-resolution infrared camera systems that can detect building defects that are not visible to the naked eye, identifying potential problems that could cost thousands of dollars to repair.
These drones are capable of producing high-resolution images and video and capturing application-specific data in detail that was never before possible. Our cameras are capable of detecting temperatures of less than ½ degree F, which allows us to detect even the slightest anomaly.
BDG is also FAA-authorized to perform nighttime aerial operations with an approved Daylight Operation Waiver under 14 CFR § 107.29. The waiver allows us to perform aerial infrared roof inspections throughout the United States.

Aerial Infrared Roof Inspections: This service is performed just after sunset and works on the principle that wet areas on a roof retain heat longer than dry areas. As the roof’s surface cools after sunset, temperature differences can be easily detected using UAV aerial thermal imaging. In a typical due diligence/acquisition project, BDG finds moisture defects that allow clients to negotiate repairs or retain credits before closing, saving them hundreds of thousands of dollars in repairs.
Aerial Solar Panel Inspections: Regular inspections are important for efficient power generation, long service life, and high returns on investment. Performing aerial drone thermal inspections starting with new installation and followed by annual inspections will help extend the solar panels’ lifetime. BDG’s inspections are performed under normal operating conditions and do not require a shutdown.
