Infrared Roof Survey

Building Diagnostics Group provides infrared roof surveys and inspections nationwide. In the hands of our experienced certified thermographers, moisture damaged areas can be quickly and non-destructively identified.

Building Diagnostics Group (BDG), founded in 2002, is an industry leader in the non-destructive detection, investigation, and resolution of water intrusions. Robert Scherer, President, is certified in Advanced Building Diagnostics and is an ITC Certified Level III Thermographer with more than 15 years of thermography experience in a wide range of applications.

About Roof Inspection

Conventional roof inspection methods require a time-consuming grid-type contact search (capacitance testing) that involves drilling holes (core sampling) in the roof membrane.

Instead of damaging parts of the roof system, take advantage of BDG’s non-contact, non-destructive infrared roof inspections that can provide far more accurate observations of the condition of an existing roofing system.

The BDG team of certified thermographers and engineering/architectural specialists have the ability to evaluate up to 300,000 SF of roof area in a single visit via our walk-over method, or evaluate millions of square feet by utilizing our aerial drone service. We provide the most comprehensive non-destructive inspections available today.

We are FAA-authorized commercial drone remote pilots with a current inventory of four drones specially equipped with high-resolution infrared camera systems. We are also FAA-authorized to perform nighttime aerial operations with an approved Daylight Operation Waiver under 14 CFR § 107.29, allowing us to perform aerial infrared roof inspections throughout the United States.

Walk-Over Roof Surveys

BDG’s visual photographic roof surveys use professional grade infrared camera equipment to capture high-resolution digital images. We can provide these images in a traditional PDF report format that outlines concerns found during the inspection and recommendations for proper repairs, or upload them to our cloud reporting platform which produces a large format stitched image or a 3D model that can easily be annotated, measured, and shared with other construction managers, building owners, or the appropriate repair personnel.

Aerial Infrared Roof Surveys

BDG’s aerial drone thermal infrared roof surveys are ideal for determining active roof leaks of commercial or multi-family properties and can significantly reduce the time and expense of commercial roof inspections when compared to conventional methods. This thermal imaging service is performed just after sunset to detect warm trapped moisture under the roofing membrane. It does not require roof access or disruption of the building occupants. The BDG team can evaluate millions of square feet with this aerial service.

Our Proven Process

After an initial telephone or face-to-face meeting, BDG will send a team to work on site with you, make a clean sweep of the area, and document everything with our specialized thermographic equipment. Startling findings are usually available within minutes and may lead to additional areas of interest.

Back at our office, we review and analyze the data and digital images we collected during the course of our roof inspection and create a comprehensive project report that details the problems and anomalies encountered. Our reports also provide the technical details your roof repair vendors will need to fix them.

As you evaluate companies with the expertise to conduct an infrared roof survey for your commercial building, consider Building Diagnostics Group for thorough, accurate and affordable inspections. Get in touch with us at (888) 317-4568 to learn more about our services.
