About Us
Robert Scherer, President of BDG, has over 25 years of residential and commercial construction experience and is a pioneer in the field of moisture intrusion and building defect investigations with the use of infrared thermography.
Our highly trained team of professionals includes Certified Level III Thermographers, FAA Authorized Commercial sUAS Remote Pilots, Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH), and other engineering/architectural specialists who provide the most comprehensive non-destructive building investigations available today.

BDG offers inspection services in a variety of different roles. We often work with engineering firms during the due diligence process of an acquisition. We are typically the first to inspect a building’s exterior, providing insight about its condition and the need, if any, for additional services to complete the due diligence evaluation. And many commercial and multi-family properties contract us to perform annual inspections to proactively protect their investments.
Our services include:
Commercial roof surveys – Infrared roof inspections are a non-contact and non-destructive testing method to determine active roof leaks. BDG’s inspections are fast and affordable and provide a clear picture of damaged areas. Our team can evaluate up to 300,000 SF of roof area in a single visit via our walk-over method, or evaluate millions of square feet by utilizing our aerial sUAS service.
Exterior building inspections –Our exterior building surveys are extremely fast and cost-effective at identifying potential hidden defects in many different cladding systems. BDG can typically evaluate 10 to 15 low-rise apartment buildings in just a few days on site.
Interior building inspections – With our extensive knowledge and use of high-resolution infrared cameras, we can quickly pinpoint the exact location of water intrusions without disassembling the premises or disturbing the occupants.
EIFS inspections – Our water infiltration analysis, pre-purchase and construction services provide moisture analysis of any structure with EIFS or stucco cladding to find excessive moisture content in the structural cavities and framing.
